Carassauga

Culture Philippines of Ontario has been the proud host of the Philippine Pavilion at the Carassauga Festival of Cultures since its inception in 1986. The Philippines Pavilion theme for this year 2009 is "TRIBAL PHILIPPINES".

Carassauga Festival is an annual Mississauga-wide event in co-operation with City-based ethnocultural organizations, with the following objectives:

  • To provide an opportunity for Mississauga citizen groups from different countries of origin to promote public awareness, appreciation, and enjoyment of their cultures and cultural expressions,
  • To promote principles of good citizenship, thereby encouraging tolerance, mutual cooperation, and respect between and amongst Mississauga citizens,
  • To encourage ethno-specific groups to cooperate together and to participate in mainstream cultural, civic, and social activities.

Over the years it has attracted 25 different pavilions and each of which represents a different country and is sponsored by a local non-profit organization.

This annual three-day family event has always operated during the last week-end of May for the past 21 years. This year, the Carassauga Festival will be held on May 22, 23 and 24, 2009.

The Philippine Pavilion is located at the Hershey Centre, 5500 Rose Cherry Place
(North off Matheson, one traffic light East of Kennedy)

The Philippine Pavilion has won many awards from the Festival. Most notably, the Most Outstanding Pavilion for the years 2003, 2004 and 2006. The Pavilion was also the top Passport Seller at the Carassauga Festival for many years. For concessionaire inquiries please contact ALEX CORONEL at tel. 905-216-1388 e-mail:aldy@rogers.com
